Your job as a parent is to be there for your kids, to relate to them and get in their world as much as you possibly can. Your job is to understand them, to recognize them as NEW in this world and to create a safe space for them to learn and grow. It is your job to make it safe for them to express ANYTHING they need to express.

Simply put, your job as a parent is to be a parenting coach. You get to be their coach in the game of life!  So what does that look like?

There are 3 qualities you must embody to be your child’s coach:

  1. Create      a structure of guidance and support.

Within this relationship the child KNOWS that you are on their side, that you will not make them wrong, but instead offer guidance by being the compass that helps them navigate their own distinctions of right and wrong.

  1. Accept      without judgment.

Avoid the temptation to make them wrong. The child cannot overcome challenges and frustrations if they are being judged.

  1. Hold      them to their highest potential.

See the best in your kids and constantly strive to help them remove any obstacles blocking their light from shining through. Help them amplify who they are by finding pathways that really work for them.
